If photography records only instants, can time still exist in the image? This project is a selfmade slit-shutter camera built with an Arduino, stepper motor, and gears. A moving slit exposes different areas of the image at different times, producing displacement in moving subjects and revealing time as structure. By programming the shutter’s parameters, the camera becomes an adjustable device for time, motion, and image.
